Music is a universal language, and writers are far from the only ones who draw inspiration from song. If you’re a writer, you can probably relate to the experience of listening to a song and imagining entirely new scenes and stories based on it. As a writer who’s dabbled in songwriting in addition to stories and poetry, I’ve also found myself wondering what my writing would sound like when set to music.
Although I play keyboard and can sing, I’ve never really gotten into complex instrumentation or the cool kinds of arrangements you hear in professionally recorded songs. But in the past month, my wish came true when I stumbled upon an AI music generation tool called Udio. If you haven’t heard of it, all I can say is—it’s astounding, the most realistic music I’ve heard come from an AI. If you want a deeper introduction to Udio, I highly recommend this video, where I first discovered it:
Below are the songs I generated and links to the original poems. Until next month, keep on writing!
